NEW DELHI, Sept 6: Prices of wheat and rice basmati firmed upto Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market today on increased buying from flour mills and stockists against tight supplies from producing regions.
Traders said increased buying from flour mills and stockists against tight supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in wheat and rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 5 to Rs 1,590-1,595 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,595-1,600 per 90 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 9,100-9,800 and Rs 7,300-9,800 per quintal, respectively.
