NEW DELHI, Apr 27: Prices of wheat and rice basmati fell by up to Rs 100 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today owing to slackening demand amid good supplies from producing belts.
Traders said adquate stocks following increased arrivals from producing region mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.
Sluggish demand against stocks position forced rice basmati prices to trade lower, they said.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) shed another Rs 10 to Rs 1,455-1,460 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired lower by the same margin at Rs 1,460-1,465 per 90 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also eased by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,900-8,000 and 7,600-8,300 per quintal respectively.
