JAMMU: In the backdrop of rising ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops on BoPs and civilians area, Western Army Command chief Lt Gen K J Singh made a surprise visit to froward areas along the Indo-Pak border and reviewed the security situation in Samba and Jammu sectors today.
Lieutenant General K J Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, visited 26 Infantry Division at Satwari Cantonment today, a defence spokesman said, adding, he was received by Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps, and Maj Gen Dushyant Singh, General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division.
The Army Commander interacted with commanders and troops in the forward area and reviewed the security situation under Tiger Division, the spokesman said.
The top Army officer’s visit to forward areas along the border assumes significance in view of the escalations in ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops, at least 21 times, in the past fortnight. (AGENCIES)
