Well known poet, writer Shabnam passes away

JAMMU, Mar 27: Well known Kashmiri poet and writer, Omkar Nath Bhat Shabnam breathed his last after a brief illness at New Delhi. He was 78.
Associated with various literary organizations, Shabnam was a prolific writer whose poetry and short stories were touching heart. His poetry contained both humour and seriousness. He has touched every aspect of human life in his poetry and short stories which were published in various magazines and periodicals.
A recipient of various awards from literary and cultural organizations, Shabnam has mastery over both Kashmir and Persian languages. He besides exposing prevailing evils in society has also written on pangs of migration, communal harmony and brotherhood.
He compiled his poetry in form of books among which Teut Mudhur (Sour and Sweet) has become very popular.
Various cultural and literary organizations have expressed profound shock and grief over his demise and termed it a great loss to literary world.
