Well done, SKUAST-Kashmir

I t is a matter of great satisfaction that our educational institutions in the Union Territory have, as of late, started making a mark at the national level by scoring points at competitive levels. That Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology – Kashmir has been ranked as tenth best Agricultural University in 2021 in the country is commendable. Notable feature is that the University was at 24th position only in 2018 and just within three years, such a performance can only earn from us “Well done, keep it up.” SKUAST Jammu, however, stood at 34th pedestal of ICAR ranking. With this ranking, the University has joined the elite group of top Agricultural Universities in the country like Pantnagar Agricultural University, Punjab Agricultural University etc and, therefore, more research work and writing papers on important issues and latest about Agricultural Science must be expected from the University. With the same trend of improving upon the previous year’s scores/ ratings, the SKUAST -Kashmir shall earn its own specific niche among Agricultural Universities of the country. The other part is that on ground level, Jammu and Kashmir must take big strides in agricultural produce, its better yield and quality as also varieties of crops sown by benefitting from the latest in agriculture from this university. That being the exclusive “domain” of Agricultural Scientists, scholars and faculty members as also the students studying in this Agricultural University. That is because of the expectations the people have from the University as a result of such an encouraging performance qualifying for the 10th rank, of course, to aspire for the first three next year. Jammu SKUAST must get inspiration equally to come up with better colours next year as it is otherwise one of the best accredited Universities by Indian Council of Agricultural Studies (ICAS).
