Welfare of martyrs’ families JKP’s priority: Rajendra

SRINAGAR, June 10: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, today sanctioned scholarships worth over Rs.1.10 lakh in favour of 17 school going children of police martyrs, who laid down their lives for bringing peace in the State and protected public property and human lives. The scholarships have been sanctioned in favour wards under studies in different classes for the academic year 2014-2015.
These scholarships were announced after a meeting of Executive Body of Police Parivar Fund, which was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) under the chairmanship of Director General of Police.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been fighting the menace of terrorism for over two decades now in which large number of brave janwans and officers laid down their precious lives. It was due to their supreme sacrifices that the security situation in the State has evolved positively and the sufferings of people on account of violence unleashed by the terrorists have come down, said Mr. Rajendra.
The DGP said that violence left the families of our martyrs especially the children in a desperate condition and the Organization realized its prime responsibility to come forward and provide a helping hand in the form of financial assistance to these families, he added.
He said that among various welfare steps taken for the welfare of the families of police martyrs and the serving personnel, scholarships are provided to their wards so that they could continue their studies and excel in different fields of life. He said that besides scholarships, free education is provided to them in Police Public Schools established in the State.
DGP advised that the parents have to make their wards able to face the challenges in the modern times and make their future bright. He said that quality education has assumed more importance in the present days and every child has to perform better and shape his future.
The scholarships sanctioned among the wards include Vishal Koushal,  Pankaj Koushal, Sapna Koushal, Mukhtar Ahmed,  Farzana Amin, Sana Tariq, Showkat Rasool, Masarat Rasool, Safia Majid, Sozia Akhtar, Junaid Mazoor, Ulfat anzoor, Nusra Jan, Imtiyaz Manzoor, Mutaib Ayub, Musadiq Ayub and Farhat Gulzar.
