Webinar on ‘National Intellectual Property’ held at CLUJ

JAMMU, May 30: Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) organized a webinar on “National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission” today.
The webinar was organized in collaboration with Office of the Controller General Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, Department of Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, under the patronage of Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, CLUJ.
Dr Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, CLUJ was the chairperson of the session while Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor (VC), CLUJ presided over the event. In his address, the VC sensitized the students regarding the relevance of patents and Designs in enriching the academic excellence of faculty and young learners as per NEP, 2020.
While presenting welcome address, Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, exhorted that the theme of the session was pertinent to the students as well as the faculty for their academic growth.
Tripti Pandey, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Office of Controller General Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, Government of India, was the key note speaker for the virtual session. She gave a detailed a presentation on the importance of Patent and Design. She also provided all the requisite information regarding fee structure, forms required for filling Patents. The session was followed by as illuminating interaction wherein students raised numerous queries.
Dr Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs in his address highlighted the importance of such sessions and reiterated that every student should be well aware of how to protect and patent their ideas as it can safeguard their invention.
About 100 students from Constituent Colleges and PGI Schools, CLUJ participated in the event along with teaching faculty and Deans of faculties.
Dr Revika Revika Arora, Cultural coordinator, CLUJ conducted the proceedings of the programme. Dr Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean, CLUJ gave a formal vote of thanks.
