We should not forget martyrs’ sacrifices: Indresh Kumar

JAMMU July 25:- To pay tribute to the martyrs of Kargil and other wars, Forum for Awareness on National Security (FANS) organized a Seminar on “National Security and Role of Indian Armed Forces viz-a-viz Citizens of India at Jammu Club here, today.
In the seminar, Indresh Kumar, chief patron FANS and senior Prcharak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was the main speaker while Dr. Nirmal Singh, Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, was the chief guest.
Justice Permod Kohli, former Chief Justice of Sikkim and Kavinder Gupta ,former Deputy Chief Minister of the State, were the guests of honour.

While paying tributes to the martyrs, Indresh Kumar said that “we all should respect and honour our brave soldiers who are serving at borders for the safety and security of all countrymen’’.  He added that “we should not forget the dedication and commitment of our soldiers who are facing great hardships and living in difficult conditions for the nation. But at the same time it’s duty of all of the citizens to shoulder the responsibility, in respect of internal security and the changing environment’’.
He further emphasized the need to celebrate and remember the role of martyrs and their sacrifices in building this nation. Indresh Kumar gave a message of communal harmony and respecting each others cultural and religious values for keeping Bharat strong and united.
In his address, he lauded the role of the Central Government in giving free hand to security agencies to deal with anti national elements which has led to unprecedented success in breaking terror nexus all across the country.
He also cautioned the citizens of this country to be friendly to the nature and preserve all the natural resources for our future generations.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, Speaker, State Assembly in his address said that since independence the State has witnessed assaulted on its security from neighboring countries as well as anti-national elements within. While appreciating the initiatives of FANS, he congratulated the organizers for organizing such meaningful programs to honour and remember the contribution of martyrs towards the society. He further voiced concern regarding the frequent dislocation of people residing in the border areas and along the Line of Control and propounded the concept of smart border villages which will have all the modern facilities for the native villagers during the time of hostilities.
Justice Permod Kohli, in his address, informed about the aims and objectives of the Organisation FANS and further called upon all the citizens of the country to unite and take the responsibility of security of the country. He further added that it was not only the duty of the men in uniform to protect the country but also the moral duty and responsibility of the common masses to do their bit for the security of the nation
Kavinder Gupta, while speaking on the occasion congratulated the team of FANS for its role in honoring and remembering the brave soldiers of the country.
Among others who shared the dais and spoke on the occasion were Prof. K.L. Bhatia (Patron of the FANS J&K Chapter) and Maj. General (Retd). Shiv Kumar Sharma newly appointed president of the FANS J&K Chapter.
The forum also remembered and honoured the families of the martyr who had laid down their lives and attained martyrdom while serving the mother land.
Welcome address was presented by  Prem Sadotra, general secretary FANS.
The proceedings of the seminar were conducted by  Dinesh Gupta  general secretary of FANS and the vote of thanks was presented by Vijay Singh Sambyal vice president FANS.
