JAMMU, Apr 8: We Care Welfare Society (WCWS) and ASCOMS & Hospital Sidhra jointly organized a program for conducting free eye surgeries of Cataract patients belonging to downtrodden and BPL families.
The program was in pursuance of medical camp held at Mansar on March 28 wherein patients were screened for eye operations. A total of 38 patients were screened for Cataract and other eye ailments. The eye surgeries were conducted in two batches, it started on 04-04-2022 and lasted for four days. The working committee and members of WCWS received patients and helped them for all surgery formalities.
In the first phase, 14 patients turned up and after proper examination, 11 were operated upon and rest 3 patients were treated for their ailment. The surgeries of the remaining patients will be undertaken in the second phase afterwards. After surgeries, they stayed overnight in the hospital and discharged on the next day. Free spectacles were distributed to the patients by WCWS.
Capt Dina Nath, Chairman, Block Development Council, helped in mobilizing the patients and providing transport facilities. Dr Pavan Malhotra (Principal of the College), Dr Deepika Mahajan (Deputy Superintendent) and doctors along with related paramedical staff managed and conducted the surgeries in the ASCOMS Hospital.
The management committee members of WCWS who rendered all sort of services to the patients, include Prof M Sadiq Nargal (chairman), Dr R K Gupta (president), Sudershan Gupta (vice-president), Rajinder Gupta (general secretary), Kuldeep Uppal (treasurer), Shyam Jandyal and Subash Jandyal.
