The Water and Mid Day Meal Worker assembled near DC Office and held protest demonstration in support of their demands. They were led by its State president, Mohd Yousuf Bhat . They raised slogans and criticized the discriminating policies of State Government.
While addressing Mohd Yousuf Bhat alleged that the water workers are given only RS 30 per month and Mid Day Meal workers were given only RS 1000 per month which is very less for a worker and it is totally an injustice with him.
He said the Minimum Wages Act is not properly implemented and workers are harassed and not given their rights. The protesters asked the Government to implement Minimum Wages Act and give minimum salary of RS 3000 per month to them regularly. He alleged that it is very unfortunate that the water workers working in Government schools were paid only Rs 30 just like a beggar. The Government is silent on the issue and did not pay attention despite the regular protests and approach made to it for years together by them.
