SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Residents of Millat Colony in Delina area of Baramulla district are grappling with severe water logging, severely hampering their daily activities.
The locals said the waterlogged approach road to the locality has essentially confined them to their homes and exacerbated their plight. “The water logging has made our lives hell as we are not able to venture outside even for emergency purposes or to get essentials from the market,” one resident said.
The situation has significantly disrupted their routines, with residents unable to even attend congregational prayers at the Masjid. “I have not gone to the Masjid for the last week since the water filled the road,” another resident said.
The locals said children are particularly vulnerable, forced to navigate through knee-deep water to reach their homes, increasing their susceptibility to infections. The residents emphasised the urgency of finding a permanent solution, especially with schools set to reopen soon. “First, they should clear the water with the help of some sucker and later develop a permanent solution like proper drainage,” suggested a resident.
Despite repeated appeals to local authorities, residents expressed frustration at the lack of resolution. “Now, we urge the LG, Manoj Sinha, to look into the matter and help us live a dignified life,” residents said.
