“Wakeup Jammu” campaign echoes in Govt Polytechnic for Women

JAMMU, Mar 3: Continuing with its sensitization program “Wakeup Jammu” under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu, an awareness cum Voter Registration program was organized here today in the campus of Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu wherein the students of Government Polytechnic for Women, local youth, prominent citizens and local officers participated.
The audience was sensitized about the program by ACD Jammu, K.K. Sidha Nodal Officer SVEEP Election -2014 and the RJs of 92.7 Big FM conducted the proceedings of the event.
An enlightening skit was enacted by students of Government Polytechnic for Women while as the play “Lok Tantra Ka Mantra” by the artists of theatre group Natrang kept the audience spell bound and very well conveyed the message of importance of enrollment in the electoral roll and voting, which besides strengthening institutions of democracy, the people will be their own fate masters.
Onspot enrollment of eligible voters was also done with the help of Mobile Voter Registration Van (MVRV) specially designed for the purpose which is unique to the campaign launched. The event was vibrant with the enthusiasm and zeal of the students. The campaign in its totality enjoined upon all eligible voters to get enrolled and exercise their franchise and ensure that every single vote counts towards betterment of future. The program ended with a pledge by all present at the venue that they will vote for their future and will exercise their Right for the betterment of Society and Country.
The campaign launched by District Election Officer, Jammu under Systematic Voters Education and electoral participation as underlined by the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, J&K will continue to aware the electorate of the benefits of participation in the election process, merits of ethical voting and the power of vote.
The Nodal Officer K.K. Sidha also stressed upon Educational Institutions and College Ambassadors to make their campuses 100% enrolled.
Station Head 92.7 Big FM Ali Jaffery, District Panchayat Officer, Jammu, Principal Govt. Polytechnic for Women were special guests on the occasion.
