A wake up call for BJP

Sir,
This is with reference to the DE Sept. 17  news item ‘Major blow to BJP in bypolls’ I am reminded of one of the couplets of Allam-e- Iqbal ‘Hazaron saal nargis apni be noori pe roti hai-bari mushkil  se hota hai chaman mein Didahwar paida’. The world has witnessed how a man coming from lower strata of Indian society has emerged as a mature politician , an exalted personality,a seasoned diplomat, a philanthropist, a hard task master and a person committed to the cause of India, on the political horizon of the  Indian sub-continent overnight.
The land slide victory of Bhartiya Janta Party during the just concluded Parliamentary elections is a testimony of the qualities possessed by  Narendra Modi the  Prime Minister of India. Riding on the Modi wave 176 new faces along with some of repeaters  got their entry in the Indian Parliament easily and with little efforts. It is said that ‘every person considers him a good sailor when the sea is calm and the winds are favorable’. Over whelmed by the unprecedented victory of the BJP in the Parliamentary elections, the party cadre, instead of patting the back of the ground level workers became arrogant and egoistic and started ignoring them. The recent results of the by polls for legislative Assemblies of Uttrakhand,Uttarpardesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, where Bhartiya Janta Party  had met the waterloo, reveals about the biased approach and high handedness of the party cadre in the process of selection of their own kith and kin as candidates for the Assembly elections there. The blow, which the Bhartiya Janta Party, had to bear in the just concluded bypolls in the four states is an eye opener and a wakeup call for the states which are going for Assembly polls in months ahead. The party cadre of these states should bear one thing in mind that the Modi wave which they have been riding  has receded and they have come on land. It is high time for them to take the party workers in confidence in the process of selection of candidates.  One thing must be kept in mind that the elections are won by the untiring efforts of the ground level workers and not by the self-proclaimed leaders sitting in the party head offices.’ Teil to tilhan se niklta hai kohloo se nahin’
Yours etc….
