Waive off power tariff of poor, bring amnesty scheme for others: Bharat Bhushan

JAMMU, Mar 3: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan today urged the Government to waive off power tariff of the weaker sections of the society and reintroduce amnesty scheme for the rest of the people to streamline the power revenue collection in the Jammu region.
Earlier, the resolution was passed in this context during the review meeting chaired by the DDC Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan and was attended by the DDC members of Jammu district, including Deputy Commissioner Jammu, ADC Jammu, CTO, ACD, Superintending Engineer PWD and Executive Engineers besides others.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held related to District Plan 2021-2022. The Chairman laid stress on achieving all targets and utilization of 100 per cent CAPEX budget for the development of Jammu district. He asked the DDC members to fix the priorities for next fiscal in advance by giving priority to primary and middle schools and focus on public issues related to civic infra.
While appreciating the Lt Governor for laying the foundation stone of River Tawi Front, Bharat Bhushan said that the siphoned gate near Fourth Tawi Bridge should also be brought in the plan of Tawi Front development so that supply of water through Ranbir canal for downward remains unaffected.
Bharat Bhushan also demanded that proper de-silting should be ensured to revive the Ranbir Canal fully so that villages falling in the tail end of this water body should also receive adequate water for irrigation. He pointed out that there are various tributaries of the aforesaid canal in Bishnah and R S Pura which urgently require desilting.
Talking specifically, Bharat Bhushan said that the desilting works should be immediately carried out in Marh, Arnia, RS Pura, Bishnah, Suchetgarh and the authorities make assure that there should be no dumping of silt on the banks of canals and distributaries.
The DDC Chairman Jammu also raised serious concern over the tube well irrigation. He said that the seven Lift Irrigation schemes viz Gurha Pattan, Dhumi, Malpur, Manyal Brahmana, Batehra and Ranjan need immediate development and upliftment. “The authorities concerned should immediately pay a visit to the aforesaid schemes to ensure proper functioning”, he added.
