VOK raids residential houses of EO

SRINAGAR, Apr 6:  Vigilance Organization Kashmir today conducted searches at the residential houses of Executive Officer Municipal Committee Acchabal Anantnag, namely Bashir Ahmed Ganaie of Ganaipora Mattan (KP Road), Anantnag, who has been booked for accumulating disproportionate assets by abusing his official position.
Searches of residential houses of the accused at Anantnag and Jammu were conducted simultaneously after obtaining the search warrants from the Court of Addl Special Judge Anti Corruption Court Anantnag.
During the search various important documents were seized having bearing with the investigation of the case.
Case FIR No. 11/2016 was registered at Police Station VOK in the wake of allegations of accumulating disproportionate assets by abuse of official position by Bashir Ahmed Ganaie. The verification revealed that the public servant has mostly remained posted as I/C Executive Officer of different Municipal committees and during his service carrier has through corrupt practices accumulated huge assets in the form of both moveable and immoveable assets at Anantnag and Jammu. The official has constructed a residential house at Machbawan KP Road Mattan Anantnag worth about Rs 1.30 crores. He has also purchased a residential house at Channi Rama Jammu with 07 marlas of land worth about Rs 45.00 lacs. Besides purchasing land measuring 3.7 ½ Kanals at Chetipaibugh KP road, Mattan, the official has also raised other moveable assets in the shape of bank deposits etc.  He is known to be living a luxurious life beyond his means.
Findings of the enquiry and value of assets has prima-facie established the commission of offences u/s 5(1) e r/w 5(2) P.C Act  against the accused and a case  was  accordingly registered.
It is worth to mention that VOK during the year 2016 has registered 11 cases and produced challans of 10 cases before the court of law.
