JAMMU, Nov 22: Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) today produced challan against the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) officers including the then Asstt Director CAPD Department Udhampur and others for causing loss to the State exchequer to the tune of Rs 34 lakh.
According to Vigilance Organization spokesman, the VO today presented challan in Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption Udhampur against the accused persons namely Tarsem Raj Padha, Vijay Kumar Singh, the then Asstt Director CAPD Department, Udhampur, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Proprietor M/s Udhampur Devika Transport Company and Mohan Lal, Manager, M/s Udhampur Flour Mill and others in case FIR No 19/2010 under Section 5(1)(d) read with Section 5 (2) J&K PC Act Svt 2006 and Section 120-B RPC registered with police station VOJ.
The precisely stated facts of the case are that the Vigilance Organization Jammu on the basis of a preliminary enquiry had registered the case against the above mentioned accused persons in police station Vigilance Organization, Jammu in the year 2010 for conferring undue benefit to the private truck owners by not deducting 10 per cent amount as freight charges as well as charging of excess freight charges for transportation of food grains to food store Pancheri thus causing total loss of Rs 34,16,802/- to the State exchequer.
During the course of investigation, the allegations have been prima facie established against the accused persons and accordingly the challan has been produced against them in the competent court for judicial determination.
The next date of hearing has been fixed for December 27, 2014.
