SRINAGAR: Observing that it is not meaningful to look at any important issue confronting society in an isolated manner, Governor N N Vohra said focussed studies are necessary if the objective to secure balanced human development and societal harmony is to be achieved.

An official spokesperson here this evening said Mr Vohra, Chancellor of the Kashmir University (KU) and the Chairman of the Governing Body of the Institute of Kashmir Studies (IKS), inaugurated the “First Young Scholars Conference” organized by the IKS at KU.

Welcoming the participating scholars, the Governor described the Conference as an important event which will provide a valuable platform for young scholars to air their views and learn from eminent visiting scholars.

He observed that such events provide a valuable opportunity for exchange of ideas and widening perceptions which could form the basis for further studies and researches.

The Governor observed that it is not meaningful to look at any important issue confronting society in an isolated manner. “And for evolving a well informed understanding of the challenges facing us it is necessary to adopt an interdisciplinary approach,” he said.

In this context, Mr Vohra stressed the high importance of Social Sciences and the need for quality research being undertaken in the vast field of Humanities. He observed that focussed studies are necessary if the objective to secure balanced human development and societal harmony and well being is to be achieved.  (AGENCIES)
