Srinagar, Aug 1: Jammu and Kashmir Vocational Trainers Welfare Association protested here today, demanding the removal of vocational training partners as they have no role in vocational education.
Teachers gathered at Partap Park, Press Enclave here and raised slogans in support of their demands. They said that despite having no role in vocational education, vocational teachers have been forced to work under vocational training partners (VTPs).
“Third-party VTP involvement should be stopped right now. With a proper screening process, we were hired in 2016. We want these companies eliminated from higher education so that PM Modi’s digital initiative can be realized,” a teacher said.
The protestors demanded that a job policy be framed for them and that their salaries be increased. “The Government promised us that job policy would be framed in our favour, but nothing has happened so far. All the orders that were in our favour should be implemented,” a teacher said.
They said that despite working harder than general line teachers, the Government has failed to create a job policy for them. “Apart from teaching, we also have to arrange guest lectures and other things,” a teacher said, adding that the Government is paying them less than general teachers whose job is limited to teaching.
They demanded that Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and save the future of their families.
