JAMMU, Mar 1: In a simple but impressive socio-cultural function here, today glowing tributes were paid to the Pulwama martyrs and all those who sacrificed their lives even after Pulwama Fidayeen attack including Aman Thakur, DySP, Major Vibhuti Shanker and six other IAF members who were killed in recent air crash in Budgam,Kashmir.
Organized jointly by Vishva Kashmiri Samaj, J&K Civil Society,Press Club of Jammu ,Team Jammu and Vomed Theatre Group, Global Solace (NGO) the Shraddhanjali-Sabha was attended by cross section of Society which included writers, artists,doctors,lawyers, public intellectuals, social activists besides large section of displaced Kashmiri Pandits from Jagti, Nagrota and Purkhoo camps.
At the outset, members observed two minutes silence followed by floral tributes by the eminent citizens.
While remembering the great sacrifice of the martyrs, Kiran Wattal appealed the conscience of the countrymen in general and people of Jammu in particular not to forget huge sacrifice of the bravehearts. He informed the people that earlier Vishava Kashmiri Samaj led by him had planned to organize purely a theatrical presentation on the concept and significance of Herath, the distinct Kashmiri style of Shivratri,on this date. “Due to unfortunate Pulwama Fidayeen attack on Indian security forces, we cancelled that and organized this musical and theatrical commemorative programme instead”.
Dr K N Pandita highlighted the need of remaining all time vigilant to frustrate the evil designs of the enemy within.
President Press Club of Jammu, Ashwani Kumar while paying rich tributes to the martyrs underlined the monumental courage of Indian soldiers fighting 24×7 on the Indo -Pak borders which he has been privy to while doing coverage of TV News Channel during past 22 years.
Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, while paying tributes to the Pulwama martyrs cautioned the Jihadi terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley to pack off herewith or else new resurgent India will leave no stone unturned to eliminate them wherever they would be found taking refuge.
Asgar Ali, former Legislator and social activist while paying tributes said “we should remain united and counter any threat from enemy. People of Jammu always maintained communal harmony.
Pawan Shastri, president, Jammu Yatri Bhawan announced that Yatri Bhawan will organise hawan in the memory of martyrs in this month and he urged the Jammuities to participate in this hawan.
Eminent writer, thinker and social activist, Dr Agnishekhar expressed his deep anguish and dismay at the dastardly terrorist act at Pulwama Kashmir in which over 44 CRPF jawans attained martyrdom.
The eminent artist’s paid musical tributes to the martyrs by way of singing the patriotic and devotional songs on the occasion. Among others who performed in the commemorative music concert included Kailash Mehra Sadhu, Deepali Wattal, Rishabh Dorgee.
The special theatrical item based on a Sanskrit Shaiv hymn prepared by music director, Kuldeep Saproo and Choreographed by Akash Dogra was highly appreciated by the audience.
The whole program was coordinated and directed by young theatre director Rohit Bhat of Vomed Group.
Famous Artist Kusum Tikku anchored the function.
