Refer news item, “Assam girl molestation : Omar for strict action against the accused”. J&K CM Omar Abdullah favoured “strict action” against those accused of molesting a girl at a public place in Guwhati..
” I feel that strict action needs to be taken against the accused so that people do not even think of indulging in such kind of acts.. Women are considered as goddess in our country. It is a matter of shame for all of us to see women treated in this way.” The CM said.
On one side there comments are very encouraging that our CM has a expressed concern over such a shameful incident but at the same time when it comes to our state the encouraging statements like above disappear. Many incidents of the same nature occured in our state in the past. Recently an incident occured in Tehsil Kalakote of Distt Rajouri where an XIth class girl student was kidnapped and gange raped and she consumed poison and ended her life.
Nobody from the political arena or the CM spoke any word about the incident. What we mean by it ?
