SRINAGAR: Hitting out at the ruling BJP for demanding aerial bombing on Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that violence will not resolve any problem.

“It is the same BJP which lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting Pakistan to attend his counterpart Nawaz Sharif’s daughter’s marriage. On the one hand they exchange gifts and other the other hand they demand action against Pakistan,” he said.

Asserting that violence will not solve any problem, he said dialogue with the neighbouring county is the only way to resolve the issue. “The BJP policy on Pakistan is not clear as they often change their stand,” Mr Abdullah told reporters outside the Assembly.

Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes with the ruling BJP members shouting anti-Pakistan slogans and demanding action against the neighbouring country in the backdrop of increase in militant activities in Kashmir valley. The BJP Members also called for an aerial bombing on militants camps which Pakistan is operating in PoK.

Meanwhile, reacting sharply on the alleged discrimination with Kashmir with respect to setting up of IIM and IIT, he said the answer given by the Government was vague. “In the answer given by the Government, it has said that the issue will be taken with the centre at appropriate time.”

“Will the appropriate time come when people of Kashmir will hit the streets and protests like people in Jammu did for AIIMS,” he said.  (AGENCIES)
