JAMMU, Oct 12: Residents of Ward number 4, Panchayat Chak Chabba, Village Rampur in Tehsil Mahreen submitted a representation to Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua and Assistant Commissioner Development, Kathua for the construction of a drain in their ward.
According to Advocate Appu Singh, who led the villagers, the matter pertains to the Scheduled Caste community, which since the last twenty years is toiling to get a drain for its ward. Earlier also on 15th of July 2023, Advocate Singh had submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner of Kathua for immediate action in this regard as village Rampur is declared a modern village under the ‘Border Area Development Programme’.
Even as DC Kathua did forward the letter to the concerned authority and an instruction was further sent to Assistant Commissioner Development, Kathua by Chief Planning Officer, Kathua on the 17th of July 2023, the matter was still pending, Appu Singh alleged and announced that if the issue is not resolved within the next few days, the residents will forward their representation to National Commission for Scheduled Caste (NCSC), New Delhi or submit their grievance to the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
