BHADERWAH, June 25: Irked over the delay in construction of just 1.5 kilometer road to their villages, dozens of villagers of Kulsari Panchayat held protest near Kulsari, where they stopped Advisor’s cavalcade and aware him about the situation of villagers due to non availability of road connectivity.
While talking to Advisor Farooq Khan, who was on one day tour of Bhadarwah, the villagers expressed their anger and resentment towards present administration, which has failed to complete the construction of road even after lapse of 10 years.
Villagers holding placards in support of their demands on Bhadarwah-Doda highway at Kursari alleged that not only their villages are being cut off from the rest of the world but also deprived of even basic amenities due to the alleged apathy of officials.
The villagers of Kursari, Lamote and Kapra led by Sarpanch Kulsari Sajid Mir sought construction of the road.
After assurance from Advisor to take up the matter on priority, the villagers called off the protest and traffic was resumed on the Bhadarwah-Doda highway, which remained closed for 2 hours.
Sajid Mir Sarpanch said, “We are demanding road connectivity as it is must for the development of any area. Since last ten years, we are being given only false promises but now it’s enough. Today, we block the Bhadarwah-Doda highway to highlight our demand and stopped the cavalcade of Advisor Farooq Khan, who assured us to redress the matter on priority”.
If our demand is not redressed at the earliest, we will be forced to take another big step in coming days.
