DODA, June 15: Demanding road connectivity, the villagers held protest in Gandoh area of Tehsil Chilli Pingal here today.
A large number of residents assembled in Gandoh village and staged protest against district administration.
Amid slogans against the district administration, the protestors were demanding road connectivity for various villages falling in Tehsil Chilly Pingal.
Thousands of people reside in around one dozen villages of Tehsil Chilli Pingal and are waiting for road connectivity since several decades.
The protestors said that they have travel several kilometers by foot to reach the nearest motorable road.
The affected villages due to non availability of road connectivity are Bani, Khumar Mohalla A, Khumar Mohalla B, Upper Zarger Mohalla, Khanpura A, Khanpura B, Rehri, Chopwara, Tika and Bani Kalamul.
“Sometimes we have to carry the ailing persons including pregnant ladies on our shoulders due to no road connectivity”, the protestors said, adding that providing basic facilities like connecting roads should be the foremost priority of the Government especially in this age of Digital India.
They claimed that many people including expecting mothers lost their lives in the recent past enroute to the hospital due to lack of roads in the aforesaid villages.
Lack of road connectivity has made the life of villagers miserable, they asserted.
With a warning to intensify their protest if their demand of road connectivity is not met in the shortest possible time, the protestors dispersed later.
