Villagers protest against sale of illicit liquor

KATHUA, Dec 18: The residents of village Sumwan, Muthi Khurud under the jurisdiction of Nagari Police Station held a protest demonstration at DC Office against the sale of illicit liquor in the villages.
The protest was led by BJP district president Prem Nath Dogra.
The protesters in large number including women carrying the pouches of illicit liquor in their hands reached at DC Office and protested there. They were raising the slogans ‘ Stop sale of illicit liquor’. While addressing women Krishna Kumari, Geeta Devi , Prem Nath Dogra and Bodh Raj alleged that the illicit liquor is sold openly in their village.
Some influenced villagers have set up illegal distilleries in their houses and distiling the illicit liquor in large quantity. The poor people are lured to drink by them, they alleged. Even the school going children are seen consuming the illicit liquor which is easily available in the villages.
The villagers alleged that the illicit liquor is also supplied to nearby area through cars. But no one from police or any agency is taking cognizance of the same. They said that the sale of illicit liquor is in full swing and life of next generation is also spoiling. They demanded stern action such anti social elements.
Later a delegation led by BJP district president, Prem Nath Dogra met the DC Kathua, Rohit Khajuria and submitted a memorandum to him.
