JAMMU, Jan 23 Senior Congress leader and General Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vikram Malhotra visited Boria Mohalla in Ward No. 10 of Jammu East Constituency on Friday, which was facing acute water shortage and also confronting the supply of contaminated water for a long time.
During his visit to the area, Vikram Malhotra inspected the installation of five-inch wide drinking water pipe by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, for which he himself took initiative and projected the demand for it before the concerned authorities.
It may be mentioned here that a deputation of senior residents of Boria Mohalla had approached Vikram Malhotra in the recent past and highlighted their plight in view of shortage of drinking water as well as supply of contaminated water in the area.
On this occasion, residents of the area also demanded widening of drains in Boria Mohalla of Ward No. 10, which remain choked with dirty water and filth etc, especially during the rainy season. They also highlighted the demand for repairs of lanes in the area, as tiles have been uprooted at various places.
Addressing a gathering on this occasion, Vikram Malhotra assured the residents of Boria Mohalla that he would further take up their issues with the concerned departments so as to find early solution to their problems.
He also promised all possible support and cooperation in the matters of development of Ward No. 10 like other areas of the Jammu East Constituency.
