Vikar sentenced to 5 months in prison

ANUPSHAHR, Aug 29:
Former Jammu and Kashmir Congress president and candidate from Banihal constituency, Vikar Rasool Wani, along with five other accused, has been found guilty by the court.
The court sentenced them to five months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 1000 each.
During the 2012 Assembly elections, a public meeting was organized without permission at the Junior High School in Mithepur village of Gulavathi.

In this meeting, the former Jammu and Kashmir Congress president and former MLA, Vikar Rasool Wani, addressed the people.
A case was registered against the accused by then Block Development Officer Siyaram Varshney for violating the Model Code of Conduct. The case was being heard in the Special MP MLA Court.
The court found the charges of violating the Model Code of Conduct to be valid and sentenced former Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Vikar Rasool Wani, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Sachin, Ikramuddin and Nazim to five months in prison and imposed a fine of one thousand rupees each.
Vikar Rasool is the Congress candidate from Banihal Assembly. (Agencies)
