Vikar reviews post flood measures

JAMMU, Oct 9: Minister of State for Technical Education (Independent Charge), Power, Information, CAPD, Vikar Rasool today directed the senior functionaries of different departments to be prompt in delivery of essential services to the flood affected populace especially in snow bound areas of Jammu province well before the onset of winter season.
The Minister said this while chairing a high level meeting of senior officers of various departments to review the status of restoration works in the flood affected areas of the region.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu, Chief Engineer PDD, Shehnaz Goni, Chief Engineer PHE, Sushil Aima, Chief Engineer R&B, Hamid Skeikh, Director Health Services Jammu, Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director CAPD, G.S. Chib besides other concerned.
The Minister gave specific instructions to PHE, PDD, R&B, CAPD, Health, Irrigation and Flood Control, Horticulture, Agriculture authorities to speedup renovation and repair work on damaged infrastructure concerning their respective departments so that the flood affected people do not face any inconvenience during the ensuing winter season.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to provide free ration, funds and other relief material to the flood affected people on priority for their quick rehabilitation. He directed the Irrigation and Flood Control authorities to plug in the breaches and other allied works so as to give pre-dimensions to the flooded rivers, nallahs and other water bodies
The Minister asked the Revenue Department to prepare a supplementary list of flood affected people after re-verification of left out ones and provide it to CAPD department so that not even a single sufferer is deprived of relief being provided by the state government and other agencies.
Later, the Minister inaugurated New Girls Hostel Block at Government Polytechnic for Women Jammu constructed by J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs. one crore as under the scheme of Submission of Polytechnics under Coordinated Action for Skill Development.
