SAMBA, May 9: District police Samba today busted the ATM cards theft/swapping gang with the arrest of six persons and recoveries of ATM cards, cash and a sharp edged weapon.
Police said a complaint was received at Police Station (PS) Vijaypur regarding incidents of swapping ATM cards and withdrawing money in the area. Taking cognizance of the complaint, PS Vijaypur enquired the matter and after arduous efforts made by the police team headed by SHO, PS, Vijaypur Inspector, Rajeev Kumar under the supervision of SDPO, Vijaypur, Priyanka Kumari succeeded in the arrest of six persons who were involved in the ATM swapping/theft cases.
All the arrested gang members are from Phagwara, Kapurthala (Punjab), police disclosed. They included, Rahul Kumar, son of Jaganath Saini, Krishna Yadav, son of Jangi Yadav , Suresh Kumar, son of Sunil Saini, Sahib Saini son of Bala Saini , Dharminder Saini, son of Vishwanath Saini, Khalil Mia, son of Hakim Mia. All are residents Phagwara, Kapurthala, Punjab.
On their disclosure during sustained questioning, a total of 62 ATM cards of different banks were recovered from them along with cash of Rs 10,000. One vehicle bearing Registration Number PB36J 8159 used by the gang members in commission of crime and a sharp edged weapon like Khokhri were also seized.
A case FIR No 66/2022 u/s 420, 120B IPC 4/25 Arms Act got registered in the instant case at Police Station Vijaypur and further investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan.
