Vigilance produces challan against JE SSA in trap case

JAMMU, Sept 8: Vigilance Organization Jammu today produced challan against the then Junior Engineer (JE) Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Bhatyas zone, Tehsil Gandoh, district Doda, who was caught red handed accepting for bribe.
Challan against the accused JE Darminder Singh, resident of Kandhote, Tehsil Thathri, was presented before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Doda, in case FIR number 02/2018 P/S VOJ, under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt.2006 & Section 4-A J&K PC Act (Amendment Act-2014).
Brief facts of the case are that on 18-01-2018 a written complaint was lodged by one Bashir Ahmed of Manoo, Tehsil Gandoh, who was working as a Labour Supplier with Education Department Bhatyas Zone since one year and had executed the construction work of Upper Primary School Shairpura Manoo School Building in Tehsil Gandoh. As per the complainant, payment of Rs 4 lakh as third installment was pending to him with the Education Department and for the release / pass of the third installment, the JE allegedly demanded Rs 35000/- as bribe from him. The complainant further alleged that a payment of Rs 2.4 lakh to one Jaffer Iqbal was also pending against the executed work of Government Middle School at Jall Tehsil Gandoh. The JE demanded Rs 20000/- from Jaffer Iqbal through the complainant for passing / releasing of this payment.
The JE told the complainant to pay him bribe amount of Rs 35000 as well as bribe amount of Rs 20000 at Jammu.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap and caught the accused JE red handed while demanding and accepting the illegal gratification of Rs 55000/- from the complainant.
After completion of the investigation, the case was processed for obtaining approval from the competent authority and after obtaining the approval, Challan of the case was produced against the JE. Next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for September 26, 2018.
