Vigilance produces challan against Dy Director Sericulture

JAMMU, Oct 11: Vigilance Organization Kashmir today presented charge sheet (Challan) against then Deputy Director Sericulture, Budgam, who is accused of demanding and accepting bribe.
Challan in case FIR No. 33/2015 of P/S VOK U/s Sec. 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 r/w Section 4-A Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2014 P/S VOK, was presented before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-corruption Court Srinagar, against accused Abdul Rehman Bhat, then Dy Director Sericulture Budgam.
On 23-07-2015, the accused officer had demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 12,000- from complainant Ali Mohammad Bhat as bribe for releasing of arrears due to him on account of In-Situ promotion granted in his favour by the Department of Sericulture on 29-05-2015.
During the course of investigation, charges against the accused officer were proved on the basis of oral as well as documentary evidences. Subsequently, for launching the prosecution against the accused public servant, sanction was obtained from the competent authority vide order No. 39-GAD(Vig) of 2017 dated 12-07-2017 and accordingly the charge sheet was produced before the court under section 173 Cr PC for the judicial determination.
