JAMMU, Apr 4: State Vigilance Organization today presented challan against Ranjit Singh, the then ASI posted at Domana Police Station, who was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe.
According to the Vigilance case, one Mandeep Sharma lodged a written complaint with the Vigilance Organization alleging therein that the elder brother of complainant lodged a false complaint against him at Police Station Domana following which the complainant was called at Police Station and arrested by ASI Ranjeet Singh.
He alleged that Ranjeet Singh not only retained Rs 1500 during Jama Talashi but also demanded Rs 2000 as bribe to release him from the police custody. Accordingly complainant was released from the custody of police on the settlement that bribe amount Rs 2000 will be paid to the ASI on next day.
On December 9, 2011 ASI was caught red-handed by trap team of Vigilance Organization and today after completion of investigation Vigilance Organization presented challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu.
