Vigilance failure leads to acquittal of 2 Patwaris

JAMMU, June 8: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Sanjay Dhar today acquitted two Patwaris namely Balak Ram and Jangi Ram, who were arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 5200 for attesting the mutation, as Vigilance Organization Jammu failed to prove its case.
After hearing Advocate K S Charak for the accused persons, Special Judge Anticorruption observed, “in the absence of any cogent, convincing and reliable evidence to prove the aspects of demand and acceptance of bribe money by the accused, the presumption under Section 4 of Prevention of Corruption Act cannot be raised against the accused in this case”.
“It is clear that Vigilance Organization Jammu has not discharged its duty to prove the case against the accused”, the court said while dismissing the chargesheet and acquitting the accused.
