JAMMU, July 6: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today booked Incharge Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer of University Works Department and a contractor for withdrawal of Rs 3,49,376 against non-executed work in University of Jammu.
According to the case, Suresh Sharma, Incharge Executive Engineer, Akash Bhalla, Assistant Engineer, Virender Singh Wazir, Junior Engineer of University Works Department in league with contractor Karam Chand withdrew an amount of Rs 3,49,376 against the work of fixing of tiles at the rate of Rs 1100 per square meter on the first floor of the building of Business School, University of Jammu which actually was not executed on the ground. In this way, they caused wrongful loss to the Government exchequer.
During the course of verification, it came to fore that Virender Singh Wazir, JE prepared a fake measurement book showing laying of tiles on the first floor of the building of Business School despite being fully aware of the fact that the tiles have not been laid and the work has not been executed.
Suresh Sharma, Incharge Executive Engineer and Akash Bhalla, AE forwarded the wrong report of JE and the contractor Karam Chand wrongfully claimed the amount against unexecuted work.
