This refers to recent article titled “Make use of video conferencing” by Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat (Excelsior 20.12.2017) . Video Conferencing helps in good governance and reduces financial burden on state exchequer. It will help Govt officials to have more people to people contact which otherwise is not possible as officials are mostly out of offices for meetings with senior officers. The expenditure on account of TA and DA can also be reduced. If Govt has already issued a circular to follow austerity measures why this is not being adhered ? Chief Minister and Chief Secretary must themselves ensure rigorous use of video conferencing by Govt officers especially those posted in Ladakh , Kargil , Gurez , Kishtwar and other far flung areas of J&K. Administrative Secretaries must ensure implementation of austerity measures circular issued by Principal Secretary Finance.
