JAMMU, Dec 20: Giving full credit to Narendra Modi Government for passage of Citizens Amendment Bill (CAB), Vishaw Hindu Parishad today announced that it will launch a nation -wide campaign in support of the Bill passed by Parliament recently.
Talking to reporters here, VHP J&K Working president, Rajesh Gupta and its general secretary, Shakti Dutt Sharma allayed the fears of Muslims that the Bill was against them. They said that Muslims of India will not be harmed by the new law and the Bill is to accord citizenship rights to the Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Parsis who have faced persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan through the hands of tyrant rulers and were living in India without citizenship rights for years together.
“One fails to understand what is the problem to Congress, Left , Trina Mol Congress (TMC) and other opposition parties who are opposing the Bill, said Rajesh Gupta, Do these parties want that these people should continue to suffer and live as second class citizens in India too”, he asked?
He said the proposal to bring the Bill was mooted by the Congress earlier and former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh had strongly advocated that the parliament should pass a law in this regard but it is unfortunate that his party has now made a hue and cry against the Bill and is instigating the people to take to streets against the law which has been passed by Parliament.
Endorsing full support on behalf of VHP to the Bill, Shakti Dutt Sharma said that VHP will launch a nationwide campaign to mobilize the public opinion in its favour and take on the forces who are opposing it.
He said in this regard a congregation will be held at Kailakh Dham Bantalab on December 22 in which BJP national Spokesperson, Sambit Patra will be the main speaker. This will be followed by sequence of programmes at district headquarters, he added.
VHP general secretary, Abhisheikh and its Media incharge and publicity secretary, Rajesh Bhasin were also present in the press conference.
