Veteran RSS leader’s mortal remains consigned to flames

JAMMU, Oct 4: Omkar Nath Kak, a veteran RSS activist, founder worker of organsiation in Kashmir in 1942 under the tutelage of veteran JanSangh leader, Prof. Balraj Madhok and former Principal Sanatan Dharam School passed away here, yesterday.
He was cremated at Shakti Nagar Cremation Ground today. A large number of people including RSS activists led by Prant Pracharak Rupesh Kumar , MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP president, Ravinder Raina, former Minister Sat Sharma and other social and political leaders participated in his last rites and paid tributes to him.
He relentlessly worked in Kashmir for RSS. In 1947 Pakistani invasion he joined Mahraja’s Group of Volunteers for saving the cantonment and parts of Srinagar city till Indian Army landed in Kashmir. He worked closely with Shamaprasad Mukherjee, Balalraj Madok and Pandit Prem Nath Dogra. He was the person who led the mission of helping smooth arrival of Indian Army during Pakistan’s aggression in 1947 in Kashmir. Kak worked hard with other Sayamsawaks during Praja Parishad agitation. Some time back Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also called up him to enquire about his health.
Under Sheikh Abdullah regime, he suffered a lot of repression along with several other workers and came down to Jammu as a Pracharak after leaving his job in the bank. He was also very active worker in Praja Parishad Movement and was jailed as well. Later he continued to work in Jammu and contributed in Shiksha Samiti for decades. He was general secretary of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Jammu for several years.
