Veteran Gujjar leader Ch Gulzar Khatana passes away

RAJOURI, June 10: Veteran Gujjar leader, former Member of Legislative Council and eminent Gojri writer, Choudhary Gulzar Ahmed Khatana passed away today at his native village Dhanor, 10 Km from Rajouri town.
He was 90. According to family sources he was suffering from a heart ailment for the last few years and breathed his last this afternoon.
Late Gulzar was author of 12 books in Gojri and Urdu. He was Member of Legislative Council J&K during 1961-66. Born in 1931, at Akhnoor Jammu, his father Ch Dewan Ali was a Zaildar and founder member of Gujjar-Jat Conference -a primer organization of Gujjars founded in 1932. He was associated with a number of spiritual organizations across world as he knew Persian, Urdu, Arabic, Sanskrit besides regional languages Gojri, Dogri, Punjabi. He traveled to many countries of the world like UAE, Iraq, Iran, Turkey others to explore the shades of spirituality.
His last rites will be performed tomorrow at his native village Danhur Rajouri at 1:00 PM.
