Veteran Dogri litterateur Puran Chand Badgotra passes away

JAMMU, June 2: Veteran Dogri litterateur Puran Chand Badgotra passed away at the age of 89. He breathed his last at his residence in New Plot, Jammu, on Monday evening and his last rites were performed today at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground.
A distinguished figure in Dogri literature, Badgotra was widely known for his significant contribution to Dogri Kundli poetry and literary writings. Several of his books were published, earning him recognition among readers and literary circles alike.
A recipient of the State Award, Badgotra was honoured by several literary and cultural organisations for his contribution to Dogri language and literature.
After retiring as a Manager from the Industries Department, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to literary pursuits. His works were regularly featured on radio and television, and he remained an active participant in literary gatherings and cultural events. His writings were published in numerous literary magazines, including Sheeraza, the literary journal of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
His demise has been widely mourned by writers, artists and literary bodies across Jammu and Kashmir. President of Press Club Jammu, Sanjeev Pargal has also expressed condolences over the demise of Badgotra, who was father of senior journalist Bharat Bhushan Sharma.
