Vertigo Clinic starts functioning at SMVD Narayana Hospital

JAMMU, Sept 7: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital recently established its first vertigo clinic in Jammu and Kashmir that offers a high-tech comprehensive assessment platform to determine the root cause of dizziness and balance disorders.
By making neuro healthcare diagnosis available for the people, the hospital ensures that people don’t need to travel far to centers like Chandigarh or Delhi to get these diagnosis.
Dr Ankush Sharma and Dr Pooja Gupta, Consultants, Dept of Neurology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital informed that dizziness and other symptoms of multiple neuro-vestibular disorders (including vertigo, migraine and balance) manifest in the pupil movement. VNG captures, measures and analyzes these manifestations, helping clinicians determine the root cause and to plan appropriate early stage treatment. Additionally, it also helps to rule out many central disorders like tumors and stroke.

Dr Rohan Gupta, Consultant ENT Surgeon, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, says, “It is a must to have diagnostic tool in modern Neuro and ENT clinics as it helps clinicians segregate the root cause into central (brain) and peripheral (ear) areas and further narrow down the area of lesion. The entire battery of tests is non-invasive and can be performed in an OPD setting within 15-30 minutes.”
Dr Sunil Kotwal, Consultant ENT Surgeon, SMVDNSH, informed that till date more than 75 patients have been benefitted from this newly started service and people from all across the State who were initially on medication for months together are getting registered for the same.
