UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: A six days annual vertical interaction course on “Tactical Preparedness for Counter Terrorism” sponsored by Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, concluded today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA),Udhampur.
The main aim of this course was to improve cooperation and coordination among the police force with the objective of making them fully equipped and prepared to face present and future challenges emanating from within and outside the borders. Thirteen senior police officers from various States of India including two ADGs, Rajesh Dewan, ADGP, North Zone, Kozikode, Kerala and Dr. C. Sylendra Babu, ADG Coastal Security Group, Chennai, Tamilnadu, IG, Rauf-ul-Hassan, IGP AP/IR Kashmir, Deputy Director IB, MHA New Delhi, Manmeet Singh Narang, SSPs and SPs from all over the country participated in this course.
In his valedictory address, Director Police Academy Udhampur, Farooq Khan, emphasized that the objective of this course was to prepare the police organization to face and respond to the menace of terrorism. He stressed upon the need to exchange the various methods and strategies adopted to tackle terrorism.
He laid emphasis that such courses should be held more frequently so that healthy interactions and ideas are exchanged and SOP’s are framed. He said “we have to train our police personal to tackle and curb cyber terrorism which is latest form of modus operandi adopted by antinational elements. The threat is from within and outside the country and we have to be extra vigilant and alert keeping in view the geographical and regional problems in the country and its border lines with the enemy countries, the threat of infiltration and spreading of terrorism is always there”.
The Director Police Academy, Udhampur stressed on the challenges of counter terrorism, measures taken by J&K Police in tackling terrorism, ground level handling of situation in various regions of the State, the role of senior police officers in tackling armed conflict and preparedness for counter terrorism.
ADGP, North Zone, Kozikode, Kerala, Rajesh Dewan and ADG Coastal Security Group, Chennai, Tamilnadu, Dr. C. Sylendra Babu also shared their views on the occasion . The certificates and mementos of participation were also presented by the Director to all the participants.
A cultural musical night by “Chhoona Hai Asmaan” Artists was also organized on the occasion.
