Veeri reviews progress of R&B Deptt in Anantnag

SRINAGAR :  Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today convened a meeting here to review the functioning of Public Works Department in Anantnag district.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner secretary PWD Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer R&B Sheikh Hameed, Chief Engineer PMGSY Basharat Ahmed, Executive Director JKPCC Nayeem Ahmed,  Director Planning R&B Tariq Ahmed Khan, SE Anantnag, Xens of different wings of Public Works Department.

The Minister asked the officials to speed up the process of land acquisition on Sangam-Sirgufwara road, Khanbal Junction to Mehndikadal, Larkipora-Zaldoora Lisser road, and pace up the clearance of their  bottlenecks.  He also setup the deadline for the completion of Gandhanjipura-Bijbhehra bridge, Larkipora Bridge, Aroo Bridge  and formulate the time frame of various activities involving its construction.

Mr Veeri asked the officials to further speed up the macadamization process in other areas other than the 186 kms of macadamization  completed in district so far.

The Minister also directed the officials to speed up the construction of major road projects in the district under CRF including Mattan Akura Poshkari road upto Humgam Nambal , Veerinag Kapran road, Construction of road along Brengi Canal,  Seer Hapatnar Ashmuqam road, Phalgam Khanbal road,  Brakpura Kanganhal chattergul road, Mattan Achabal road.

The Chief Engineer PMGSY gave detailed account of various works being executed under the national scheme including Leenwan Morgan top, Bijbhhera Wubzan and other works.

The Minister directed the officials to Macadamize the 2km stretch from Railway to Gund Shahl on Shopian – Bijbhehra road on war footing basis.

Mr Veeri asked officials to reduce post-receipt tendering period, which will enable early allotment of work contracts and avoid cost escalations of newly conceived projects.

The Minister impressed on the Chief Engineers to submit projects to the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) for clearance of all such road projects in far-flung and remote areas, keeping in view the limited working season available in hilly and rugged terrains of the state.

Mr Veeri stressed on close synergy between officials of engineering, Revenue and Forest for speedy disposal of land acquisition cases.
