Veeri for early completion of ongoing projects

SRINAGAR, July 28:  Mini-ster for Roads & Buildings Abdul Rehman Veeri today chaired a meeting of officers of JKPCC to review the pace of development works being executed by the Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corpora-tion.
Chairing the meeting, the Minister took detailed review of the projects and got first hand appraisal of various under execution projects including bridges, shrines, hospital and educational institution buildings.
The meeting was attended among others by JKPCC Mana-ging Director, Dilip Thusoo, JKPCC General Manager Vikar Shontho, Director Finance, Director Planning, SEs and XEns from all the districts of State.
Seeking the latest information from the concerned about the status of works, the Minister directed for expediting the pace of works and ensuring their timely completion. He asked the concerned for working round the clock keeping in view the limited working season. He asked the concerned for full utilization of funds allocated under the sector.
Highlighting the importance of bridges, hospitals and higher educational institutions in the development of the State, the Minister said that Roads and Building Department plays vital role in this regards. He also asked the concerned for early completion of maternity hospital being constructed at SKIMS, Soura.
The meeting was informed that the work on 61 bridges was taken up in hand in Kashmir Province with an estimated cost of Rs. 439.35 crore and the funds to the tune of Rs. 215.76 stand released. The work on most of the bridges is going-on and expected to be completed by the end of this fiscal.
The meeting was further informed that 54  works under Health and Medical Education sector  and 29 works under Higher Education sector were taken up with an estimated cost of Rs. 1108.81 crore and Rs. 246.98 crore for which Rs. 423.71 crore and 160 crore stand released respectively.
