VDC member opens fire during clash; 3 hospitalised, gun seized

RAJOURI, Sept 7: A VDC member was today arrested by police after he opened fire during clash between two groups in remote area of Khawas in Budhal last evening.
A police spokesman said that over some land dispute, the families of Chatter Singh and Makhan Din had clash at village Bagial in Khawas area of Budhal last evening. Both the sides exchanged lathis and also indulged in stone pelting on each other. Three persons including a woman were injured during clash.
During clash, VDC member Jameer Sigh, son of Chatter Singh took out his .303 gun and fired in the air to create terror. No one was hurt in gun fire but it created a scare in the village. The injured persons during clash, Chatter Singh, Mohd Rafiq and his wife, Parveen Akhtar were removed to Khawas Hospital, both husband and wife were later referred to District Hospital, Rajouri,
The police said that a case FIR has been registered in this connection and VDC member Jameer Singh has been arrested by a team from Budhal Police Station. His rifle has also been seized. Further investigation was in progress.
The police said it was just minor issue. Chatter Singh’s family members were cutting grass from a land at the village. Makhan Din and his sons objected to it, claiming that the land belonged to them. The members on both the sides resorted to heated exchanges, followed by violent clash.
