VCs share welfare schemes for weaker sections, women

JAMMU, Dec 12:  The Vice Chairpersons of two Corporations Jammu and Kashmir SCs, STs & BCs Development Corporation Limited and Women’s Development Corporation, Balbir Ram Rattan and Vijaya Dogra  Katoch, shared welfare schemes of their respective Corporations being run by the Government  for the benefit of weaker sections and women in a meeting here, today.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while sharing significant aspects of these schemes  informed that J&K SCs,  STs & BCs Development  Corporation is primarily working for the socio economic and educational upliftment of Scheduled  Castes, Scheduled   Tribes, Backward Classes  notified  Minorities (Male members), Safai Karamcharis and  Handicapped (Male   members) in the State. These are  supported by six Apex level  Corporations of the Government  of India, the NSFDC, NSTFDC, NBCFDC, NMDFC, NSKFDC and NHFDC, he said.  He further said that the Corporation also provides financial assistance for income  generating units to  the SC, ST & BC categories members, who are living below  poverty line with  Bank Assistance under Bank tie up scheme.
During the course of interaction Vijaya Dogra Katoch informed  that the  WDC  works exclusively for the benefit of women belonging to  general category as  well as from minorities, Backward Classes and handicapped  categories. She further shared that the rate of interest and related formalities are almost common between WDC and the SC, ST, BC Development Corporation.
However, relentless efforts are needed by the officials to make more and more beneficiaries aware of all these schemes so that real and deserving groups and individuals get benefitted, she said. She also called for such efforts in order to make these meaningful and fruitful in terms of basic purpose.
As for ‘Education Loan’, Rs 10 lakh are sanctioned for study within the country and Rs 20 lakh for abroad for the Target Group female students.
Both the VCs were of the view that the two Corporations are working for the   upliftment of the weaker sections of the society emphasized need for regular interaction of the officials of the two Corporations to get updates.
