KATRA, Feb 18 The Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof S K Jain today flagged off the Team Mechanix, led by Varun Dutta (Assistant Professor SME) and Mir Irfan-ul-Haq (Assistant Professor SME) for participation in SAE BAJA 2015 international event at Indore.
SAE BAJA is an annual event organized by the SAE INDIA (Society of Automotive Engineers) in which various technical minds from across the country come together for showcasing their intellectual skills for a common task. The task offered is Design and Fabrication of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the team members for the successful fabrication of the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) and lauded the efforts put in by the director, faculty, students and the workshop staff especially the staff associated with the automobile lab Chandan Kumar, Shugal Kishore and Kewal Sharma.
Registrar SMVDU, Ajay Khajuria and Dean Faculty of Engineering Prof V Verma conveyed best wishes to the team.
Director School of Mechanical Engineering, Dr Ankush Anand briefed all the dignitaries present on the ceremony about the SAE BAJA event.
It is pertinent to mention here that Team Mechanix SMVDU is the only team from J&K which is participating in the event. The team comprises of 25 students of School of Mechanical Engineering who have designed and fabricated the ATV here at SMVDU. The ceremony ended with the demonstration of endurance of the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) by the team driver.
