SRINAGAR, May 14: Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, met Governor Satya Pal Malik, Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Prof. Ahmed apprised Governor about various issues of academic and administrative importance relating to the main and off-site campuses of the University. To-date status of filling up of vacant posts of staff and implementation of academic reforms were also discussed during the meeting.
Governor urged Vice-Chancellor to ensure that high attention is paid, on sustained basis, for improving the teaching programmes and achieving tangible outcomes in all the research areas.
Prof. Omar Javed Shah, Director SKIMS, Soura also met Governor and briefed him about functioning of the various Specialties in the Institute and brought certain important administrative issues to his notice.
Governor advised Prof. Shah to maintain quality teaching and research in this premier institute of health care. He urged for providing quality health care services to people.
Shameema Firdous, State President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s Women Wing expressed concern about the rape of a minor girl from Bandipora and submitted a representation to Governor urging that the case be tried by a fast track court.
Governor assured Firdous that every possible action would be taken to provide justice to the victim.
G.M. Shaheen, State President, Janta Dal United also met Governor and discussed various pressing issues relating to public welfare.
