JAMMU, Oct 23: Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans (SABDK), Daljit Singh Chib today flagged off a group of women farmers of Jammu Division for training in “Post-Harvest processing of fresh fruits and vegetables” at Indian Council of Agriculture and Research Institute under ICAR, Pusa, New Delhi being held from 24th to 29th October.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Arun Manhas, Mamta Singh and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
The training programme, being organized by the State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, is aimed at to acquaint them with the latest and best practices in Food Processing Technology to enable them enhance their farm income and simultaneously teach other farmers of the State about these new skills.
Chib said that to meet the ever increasing need and demand of food grains it has become necessary to do away with the traditional policies and practices in agriculture sector. The farmers have to adopt comprehensive reforms, best practices and modern technology available in agriculture and allied sectors. He advised the women farmers to make optimum use of this opportunity for sustainable agriculture growth in the State.
The flag off ceremony was also attended by Director Agriculture Production Department, Deputy Director Horticulture Department, Chief Agriculture Officer, Billawar and Board Members from Jammu Division.
