JAMMU, June 5: Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Umesh Rai today released the annual brochure of the Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL) for the academic year 2025–26.
The brochure showcases the Department’s major achievements and initiatives undertaken during the year in the areas of lifelong learning, skill development, career counselling, coaching, research, and community outreach. A key highlight of the brochure is the Department’s unique field-based postgraduate programme, Masters in Rural Studies (MRS), which offers extensive opportunities for research and field engagement.
Notably, five students of the programme have secured employment in various agencies, reflecting its growing relevance and impact.
Congratulating the Department on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated its commitment to community-oriented and field-based education and skill development programmes. He lauded the Department’s efforts towards empowering learners and promoting inclusive development.
The Department has also admitted the first batch of its Ph D programme during the academic session 2026, further strengthening its academic and research profile. Through its various units and activities, the Department equips students with practical workforce-oriented skills while addressing societal needs and contributing to human resource development.
During the academic year, the Department successfully organized a National Seminar along with several workshops and training programmes on themes related to rural development, lifelong learning, skill enhancement, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. These initiatives provided valuable platforms for academic exchange and capacity building.
Among those present on the occasion were Prof J P Joorel, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies; Dr Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu; Prof Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning; Prof Kavita Suri; Prof Vivek Sharma; Dr Pallavi Sachdeva; Dr Bharti Pathania; and Dr Sandeep Singh, faculty members of the Department.
