JAMMU, June 3: A five day Webinar Series on role of libraries and LIS Professionals during pandemic period organized by Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu in collaboration with Central Library, IIT Jammu and KNIMBUS, was inaugurated by Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Dhar said that future of teaching was going to be totally different in Post-Covid period and library professionals have to play a significant role in it.
He said according to UGC, 25 per cent teaching will be online and 75 percent will be in class room.
Prof. Dhar also said that library professionals will have to devise out ways to provide users the required journals and books online.
In his keynote address, Prof Roshan Lal Raina stressed on capacity building of the library managers and equiping them with latest know how so that they can provide better service to teachers and the students.
In her introductory remarks, Prof Sangita Gupta, gave a brief account of this webinar.
The key speakers during the five days will be Dr. Roshan Raina, Vice Chancellor, JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur; Prof. Jaideep Sharma, School of Social Science, IGNOU; Prof. Ratna Bandyopadhyay, University of Calcutta; Prof. Shilpi Verma, BBUL, Lucknow and Dr. Nabi Hasan, Librarian, IIT Delhi.
